The question = did I make an exhibition of myself = love to hear what you think ...

The gallery space is gorgeous ...
natural light ...
enticing and perfect to present ...
the story of my creative journey...
of how I maintained my love ...

By bringing fabularity to the fore ...
using locally found, recycled, repurposed ...
fabric, fibres, embellishments.

Making art glass candle stands ...
with discarded vintage crystal & depression glass ...
scrounged from a myriad of sources since 2003.
Mens neck ties kimono wall hannging ...

an applique doiley that became a bag ...
hand dyed, embroidered, embellished for My ...
Turning 25 one legged jeans salvaged from Reverse Garbage ...
working the waist bands into a unique wall hanging ...
"Waisted Waste."
Earrings that became an art quilt ...
hand dyed, with delicate embroidery embellished with seed pearls
Kaffe cottons and antique crochet edging from New York ...
 recognise any of these ...
has to be 'Fanta' for sure ...
 splashes of colour!
Vintage glass candle holders ...
holding gorgeous candles from Stacks of Wax ...
Nana's beautiful vases  ...
upturned 70s meets 40s ...
a new use for compote's ...
a tempting selection ...
of what was a collection.
Then ...
these were "Theraputic" ...
sliced lengths of denim ...
from those one legged jean.

What do you call one leg of jeans ... is it a jean?

Yes the spelling is wrong ...
but so was life when I got to these ..
the hems of those one legged denims ...
trimmed ...
sewn as a chain ...
entitled ...
"Are we there Yet' ...
dedicated to all that I kept thinking!

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse ...
there's more but that's all for now folks!!!

You're invited ... "Making an Exhibiton of Myself" ... June 22- 26 2011, 11am ~ 4pm ...

These cards will be ready to be found out and about this week ...
plus I made it to page 19 of the Chrissie Cotter program booklet ...
Taaa Daaa ...

Cherie Thompson has spent the past 66 years searching for
her creative self. She urges you to come to this exhibition
to see if she has found it. She celebrates the beauty
of recycling with her “scrounged treasures” that have
become her muse and inspiration.

Her mixed media art is from the collected, purchased,
scrounged and fossicked. Found objects, antique fabric,
antique linens, jewellery, ephemera, plastic shopping
bags, haberdashery and hardware are turned into wall
art, depression glass stands and assemblage pieces.
Making an Exhibition of Myself will give new life and
beauty to discarded objects

I'm scared to bits ...
till I remember how bad 14 hours flying is!

The years of collecting and creating are coming to fruition ...
at
The Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Pidcock Street, Camperdown ...

June 22 ~ 26, 2011 ~ from 11am ~ 4pm ...
love to see you there!

Sunday Selections = the week that was ...

My week has been blissfully busier than usual ...
International Women's Day had me thinking about my maternal family ...
(that little freckle face with the ribbon in her hair is Moi)
and paternal ancestors who unknowingly made life so easy for us today ...
my heart was in melt mode being at Sydney Craft Expo with Belle ...
 we were three generations ...
thrilled to see this treasure has been re-published as a Collectors Edition ...
no more seeing it selling for $50 on ebay ...
buying bananas instead of chocolate @ $8.99 a kilo ...
hope the growers are getting that money ..
finding some gems at a garage sale ...
meandering on MOST :: Marrickville Open Studio Trail yesterday ...
and feeling excited about being here in June!

So how was your week?
