Christmas Lights = expensive waste = compared to dentist or a hospital appointment ...

post on the gorgeous changing lights ...
reminded me of ...
Sydney Town Hall light show this year ...
the practical me wonders ...
if the money couldn't be better spent ...
by giving the people ...
on dental and hospital waiting lists ...
the Christmas gift of medical attention!!

Surely that would go to making people ...
healthier and hopefully happier ...
than an expensive light show ?

Loving ... the magic of Precious Metal Clay ... a Hector Vera class = excellent ...

Imagine this piece of PMC3 ...
equals 9 grams of clay ...

plus a second 9 gram attempt ...
caused much laughter ...

with ten minutes of 'firing' ...

loving this little gadget ...

becomes these 99.95% silver pendants ...

laughing too much ...
not paying attention ...
resulted in me ...
overheating the broken end of my second piece ...

the broken end looked like a bead...
so will be drilled and used as a bead ...
on my beautiful pendants ...

this one is Hector 'the maestro's' pendant creation.
Precious Metal Clay is an amazing material ...
it's easy, relaxing ...
giving you a beautiful result ...

FABRICABRAC Sydney = 100 + stairs = ruination of a fab concept ...

Fabric a brac was chockers ...
badly lit ...
wall to wall fabric and ...
all kinds of haberdashery ...

crammed into ...
the smallest ...
'market place' ever ...

that you had to trudge up ...
four floors of stairs.

Not single lots of stairs either ...
even these fit blokes ...
were not impressed.

Fabric a brac ...
a good idea ...
down the gurgler.

The girls I was with ...
refused to carry what they fancied ...
down the stairs ...
so spent nothing!

Of all the places ...
to hold a market ...
in this wonderful city of Sydney ...
why????

ARMISTICE DAY or REMEMBRANCE DAY 11 - 11 - 11 = remembering my Grandfather ...

today I thought about my maternal grandfather RDJ ...
born 1895.

He was in France during WW1 ...
his war record tells me ...
RDJ returned home "gassed".

My Mum was his only child ...
her life was never the same when ...
her Dear Dad was killed ...
on his way home from work in 1935.

He stood to give a lady his seat ...
in the open smoking compartment of a Bondi tram ...
the tram lurched ...
RDJ was thrown into the tracks of an oncoming tram ...
he received herendous injuries ...
he died soon after.

I found this photo ...
in a file on our family ...
in a local studies library ...
whilst researching our family history.

I'd only ever seen photo's of RDJ ...
the older my Mum got ...
the more she talked about her Dad.

When I saw this photo I cried!

Check out the little dog cocking it's leg on the tent ...
it makes a serious moment fun doesn't it?

One day I'll show you ...
the beautiful pottery and embroidery by RDJ.

Hope everyone spent a minute ...
remembering someone special ...
at 11am today.
