Textile Tales & Woven Journeys = Done ...

In 2003 after graduating with a Sociology degree ...
I went in search of my creative self.
Browsing in Basement Books ...
this gem fell off the shelf at me ...
it was like coming home ...
Judith Baker Montano gave me goose bumps ...
I'd not seen anything like it ...
I was infatuated ...
I devoured the book ...
I searched online ...
there was a huge network of like minded women...
who adored Crazy Quilting ...
there was life outside academia.

Life long friendships were made ...
creative opportunities happened.

I created this 'block' purely from the book ...
and recalling the childhood stitching skills ...
my Grandma's had given me.
Ten years on this textile & my story is included in ...
The impact this work has had on my creative journey ...
makes me grateful & blessed.

Armani's Haute Couture S/S 2011 parade ...
made my heart skip a beat ...
at the luscious skirt ... image
what do the silouhette's remind you of? ...
the combination of fabric and silhouette ...
reminded me of
retro, Anodised travelling cups ... image

that was definitely
created from a Crazy Quilting / Patchwork method, No ? ...
Oooo la la ...
 Oiu, Oiu, ...

Wall construction material ??? on Market Street wall of Westfield Centrepoint ...

The iconic Centrepoint Tower building on the Pitt, Market, Castlereagh Street block in the centre of Sydney ...
is currently under re-construction.
Today I was stopped in my tracks by the finish on the Market Street wall ...
is it paying homage to recycling, knotting, quilting or craft ???
At first glance it's massive woven rope pattern ...
almost like huge blocks ...
out came the camera ...
I was intrigued ...
could it be gigantic bales?
Look at the height of it ...
compared to the size of people ...
isn't it amazing?
When I find out more you'll be the first to know ...
watch this space ...

OK here's the answer ... I simply had to know ... read here.
