Weaving Recycled Coca Cola labels ... things go better with Coke in Peru ...

Some things are better the second time around.
Case in point: Ecoist’s collection of fashion accessories designed and made entirely from repurposed Coke Cola labels.
Ecoist sources its raw materials from Coke manufacturers in Peru (rescuing the misprinted or discontinued), and local women artisans weave labels into a variety of bags and clutches

Recycled Fashion at its ultimate finest by Gary Harvey ...

Look at what 21 ...
of what I've always known as chinese shopper bags ...
has become ...
37 army camouflage jackets ...
is now a shapely fishtail gown
26 nylon baseball jackets ...
into this bubble-inspired little number ...
30 paper issues of the Financial Times ...
perfectly newsworthy and recyclable!

Conceived by fashion designer and creative director Gary Harvey, this collection set out to prove that recycled clothing can be beautiful, innovative, and enchanting.

The couture-inspired collection, which was shown at London Fashion Week back in 2007, features gowns made entirely from recycled materials: 42 pairs of Levi’s 501s, 37 black tees, 30 copies of the Financial Times, 28 camouflage army jackets, 26 nylon baseball jackets, 21 laundry bags, 18 trench coats, ten pre-owned wedding dresses, and seven Hawaiian shirts — to be exact.

It seems that the original colors, textures and shapes of the reclaimed materials did much to inspire the silhouette of the final pieces themselves.

The alphabet sculptured from the tip of an old pencil ...
miniscule tools
delicate fingers of a genius ...
creating for hearts sake ...

peer at close up perfection ...
how can this be from a mere graphite pencil?

Ponder how easy does the lead usually breaks?
the wonder of this art is breath taking!

Dalton Ghetti, 49, a Bridgeport artist, has spent 25 good years working with a razor blade, a sewing needle and a sculpting knife for carving his unique art on the graphite end of gnarled old, used, pencils.
Each of his artworks took up to two-and-a-half years in creation.
