A gorgeous girl I met while in hospital is still having a really hard time. Twenty two weeks ago, while driving home from a church lunch something hit the windscreen of her car, she lost control, two of her three children were seriously injured. On impact the windows of the car smashed causing her right arm to be flung out the window, her right arm was trapped, mangled. She's back to where she started from after contracting the MRSA bacteria, plates in her arm had to be removed, her bones disintegrated, on Thursday she went to theatre for surgery number 16, it could be 18 ...
Due to the ridiculous insurance regulations she's not entitled to anything via her third party claim. She would have been if she'd become a quadraplegic, a paraplegic or lost a limb, she's almost lost her right arm and she's right handed. The family are struggling so she was told to apply to Australia's genius social security department known as "Centrelink" for a pension.
Yet some uneducated, efficious, bureacrat told her she she didn't qualify for a pension that she should be able to work 15 hours a week ...
With a massive frame on her right arm, she's was taking 150mg Tramadol 4 times a day, 40mg of Oxycontin twice a day, 600 mg Gabapentin 3 times day and two Panadol 4 times a day ... I'm curious to know what job she would qualify for ... maybe the said pen pushing idiots job!!!
Can you believe it??
Please say a prayer for Bec ... they're a good, hardworking, honest, family in need of a miracle ...

That's very sad.
I think the whole working-while-sick thing is so complicated.
My brother-in-laws have Cystic Fibrosis. I know it's hard for them to find work. At times, they ARE healthy enough to work, but they do get sick. And they have to be hospitalized every so often.
The insurance thing is so confusing. I think there's something like if they work and make a certain amount of money, then they won't get health money from the government.
Horribly frustrating and ridiculous!
How terrible! She is in my prayers.
I don't want to get started on How awful our health care is, but I didn't know it was awful in Australia as well.
I certainly will pray for a miracle to come to her. I can not imagine I'm in her position.
Knowing how hard it is to get anything sensible from government bureaucracies, I think your friend needs a miracle! Our current fight is with the Internal Revenue Bureau.
Just aweful. My thoughts are with her
this kind of craziness makes me angry.. why do we work our whole lives and pay into these stupid things if they are not available to us when we need them??
Just checking in on you...your are "miracle" I think.
Your friend needs a newspaper friend to help out. This sounds just plain WRONG!

yes, indeed, need for a miracle. a miracle that the insurance company rep will be struck with compassion and human kindness. blessings to her and her family.
I'm steaming over medical bills from my insurance carrier at the moment, but reading this puts my issues in perspective. Hope things work out for Bec. I'll say a prayer.
Do we pay for the lining of coperate pockets or do we pay for protection.
We need change...now!
What a tragic story...sending healing thoughts and hopes for your miracle.

Oh! This is so sad. I will surely say some words for her. No miracle is so pious as prayer. Everything will be all right.
That is terrible! My prayers go out to the family.
Horrible! I hope she recovers quickly. It might be a good idea to get a local newspaper reporter to interview her and get some 'fuss' about her problem to the air. Oftentimes those behind the scenes who rule so dumbly cannot afford to be seen in the press. It's worth a go, anyway and good luck to her!!
