Sunday lunch at Vaucluse House = going back in time = Sunday Selections ...

The beautiful Vaucluse House was built in the early 1900s by
Us three generations initially went for high tea ...
the wafting aromas food enticed us to choose lunch instead...
Chicken, Fennel & Morrocan Spices ...
two of us chose crispy flathead fillets, handcut chips and aioli ...
both scrumptious and arrived piping hot ...
pink camellias hung from huge thick ancient branches ...
this gorgeous Norfolk Pine with branches that caressed the ground ...
a blue eyed goat looked fat and happy ...
tree roots cut through the earth for metres and metres away from the trunk
stables ooozed history ...
we peeked through windows at the lavishness of the era ...
rain started ... we fled for shelter ...
more tree pics tomorrow.

Sunday Selection = Frogpondsrock = an Old Tree = what's lurking? ...

This majestic beauty is in the grounds of Sydney's first gaol ...
looking closely amongst the cobwebs ..
it's easy to imagine weeny gremlins residing ...
gnawing away ...

setting up house, inhabiting deep inside ...
peering out at me ...
as I squint and strain to catch a glimpse ...
isn't nature a wonderful thing?

Plastic in birds guts = Australian Flesh Footed Shearwaters = Frogpondsrock ...

I was about to do my Sunday Selections post but was mortified when I saw Kim's story ...

This plastic you can see in the photo came out of the stomachs of three  Australian Flesh Footed Shearwaters on Lord Howe Island ...

a Google search indicates there's a decline in the birds ... no wonder!

This puts a new light on my scrounging beach glass on Santa Monica beach escapade ... like, what else am I going to find?

Look closely ... even an old Penfolds bottle cap ... what else can you see?

Further to my above post :::
Kim tells me one of the worst plastic finds are the little clips that hold bought socks together.

Wouldn't it make a great school project for kids to collect and recycle those horrid little things?

If you have school age kids who might be interested in running something similar I'd love to hear from you via the comments section here.

People power is a wonderful thing!!

Sunday Selections = the week that was ...

My week has been blissfully busier than usual ...
International Women's Day had me thinking about my maternal family ...
(that little freckle face with the ribbon in her hair is Moi)
and paternal ancestors who unknowingly made life so easy for us today ...
my heart was in melt mode being at Sydney Craft Expo with Belle ...
 we were three generations ...
thrilled to see this treasure has been re-published as a Collectors Edition ...
no more seeing it selling for $50 on ebay ...
buying bananas instead of chocolate @ $8.99 a kilo ...
hope the growers are getting that money ..
finding some gems at a garage sale ...
meandering on MOST :: Marrickville Open Studio Trail yesterday ...
and feeling excited about being here in June!

So how was your week?
