Sunday Scribblings # 87 WALK

A stroll along the promenade at Bondi Beach was THE place for young ladies to be seen on a warm Sunday afternoon in 1938.

Mum with her friend Coralie Martin, two fashionable 17 year olds in uncomplicated times.

A walk, a stroll, an amble on the prom was a pleasure, entertainment ... look at what we don't appreciate anymore, the simple joys of life, gone!

Wonderful photo and stroll down memory lane!

The simple things in life need not be gone. They are not gone for me.

I've learned to love the simple joy of being in nature, and appreciating it's splendor. It is soul stirring, and its powerful positive impact lingers long after the experience. It lifts and nurtures us.

The problem today is people are caught up in soul-stripping human diversions -- video games, TV, gambling, drinking, drugs, etc... trying anything, grasping for the mirage of joy. Unfortunately, these things ultimately have the opposite result.

A lovely post.....you're so right, the simple things are so seldom enjoyed. Anyhow, how are you doing?

great photo....

and you're right, we have lost the promenade havent we? Now I'm sure this walkway is full of skaters and skateboarders and people strolling on their own with I-pods stuck in their ears!

They look like my mom and her friend who used to go to old Orchard Beach in Maine every summer. Great photo and words!

How true. Life moves too fast and we constantly inundated with distractions to enjoy life's simpler pleasures. That picture was a real treat.

Loved this picture of your mom, and gone indeed are those carefree days of the past - happiness is slowly lacking too in these times, and that's something they had in plenty during those days..when will we slow down?
